The Challenge

Significant.com.au is itself a Melbourne-based digital marketing agency, offering SEO, PPC, social, and web services to other businesses — which means its own search visibility functions as a live credibility test for every prospective client evaluating the team. A marketing agency that can't rank its own site has a much harder time convincing businesses to trust it with theirs, no matter how good the client work looks in a portfolio deck. The challenge was building full-funnel digital performance for the agency's own site — SEO, content, local visibility, and paid media — while simultaneously running the agency's day-to-day client marketing work, which understandably tends to take priority over internal marketing at most agencies.

The Approach

As Digital Marketing Manager, I owned the full digital strategy rather than treating SEO as an isolated task squeezed in between client deliverables.

Service-specific on-page and technical SEO. On-page and technical SEO were structured around the agency's actual service lines — Facebook advertising, YouTube ad management, Shopify SEO, and display advertising — so each service had a dedicated, detailed page built around how prospective clients actually search for that specific capability, rather than one generic "digital marketing" page trying to compete for impossibly broad, expensive head terms.

Local SEO for the Melbourne market. I built out local SEO specifically for the Melbourne market, since most agency clients search locally first when they want an agency they can meet in person or that understands the local business landscape, rather than searching for "digital marketing agency" nationally and sorting through irrelevant results.

Cross-team coordination. I worked closely with the developer and content teams so technical fixes, on-page copy, and content publishing stayed coordinated rather than happening in silos — a common failure point at agencies where marketing the agency itself gets quietly deprioritized behind billable client work, leading to a marketing team whose own site looks neglected.

Data-informed content prioritization. Performance marketing and organic efforts were run together, with PPC data informing which service pages needed stronger organic investment based on which searches were actually converting into inquiries, rather than guessing at content priorities from keyword volume alone.

Credibility and portfolio signals. Since the site's core job is convincing skeptical business owners to trust the agency, I made sure genuine case results, service specificity, and team expertise were clearly represented — the same EEAT principle that matters for any service business, but especially one whose entire pitch is "we're good at exactly this."

The Results

The site ranks for 95 organic keywords and drives roughly 60 organic visits per month, with a domain authority of 8 and 963 backlinks. These are modest numbers by design — Melbourne's digital agency market is intensely competitive, and the site's own SEO had to be balanced against active, revenue-generating client work throughout the engagement. Even at this scale, ranking visibility for an agency's own services carries outsized credibility value with prospective clients who specifically check whether an agency practices what it sells before signing a contract.
